My West Michigan Interview- New COVID-19 Senior Support Service

Kent County Senior Millage Adds New Service to Aid Seniors During the COVID-19 Crisis

The Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan and our network of Kent County Senior Millage (KCSM) partners have announced a new millage service: COVID-19 Senior Support & Daily Assurance Calls. The KCSM network has always been a strong and determined team, dedicated to providing older adults the services they need to live independently in their own homes. This commitment to supporting seniors, adults with disabilities, and caregivers in our community is now greater than ever. To continue to make certain these needs are being met, the COVID-19 Senior Support Service has been added to the millage lineup to help provide additional support for older adults and their family caregivers during this crisis.

The COVID-19 Senior Support Service allows partner organizations to conduct vital wellness checks for older adults by phone. The new service also includes the allowance for staff to deliver essential items to the client. Not only does this aid those who may be homebound, ensuring their health and safety, but it can also relieve some of the burden from their caregiver as well.

Individuals can also opt-in to receive assurance calls. If individuals would like to learn more about available resources, or opt-in to receive assurance calls, they can contact the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan’s Information and Assistance Department at (616) 456-5664.
