Press Release: Public Hearing Announcement
The Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan (AAAWM) is seeking comment on its Draft Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) for fiscal year 2018.
“The Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan values the feedback of those who reside in our nine county service region. We encourage the public to attend this hearing and share ideas, comments and ask questions,” says Lacey Charboneau, AAAWM Advocacy Coordinator and Planner.
Interested parties are invited to review and comment on the proposed plan at a public hearing, which will be conducted at the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan’s office on:

As part of AAAWM’s Draft Annual Implementation Plan for fiscal year 2018, the agency will address healthy aging, access to dental care, person-centered planning, elder abuse prevention, creating innovative programs to reach older adults at all stages of aging, support for those caring for seniors, access to services for LGBT elders, and making our communities dementia friendly.
The Draft AIP will be available for review and/or download on the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan website on May 19, 2017.
Written comments will be accepted through June 13, 2017 by 5:00 pm. Individuals can submit comments online, through the agency’s Facebook page by email or by mailing their comments to 3215 Eaglecrest Drive NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
Area Plan Now Available
The Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan is charged with developing an Area Plan on Aging for the next three years and is inviting the public to comment on the plan for fiscal years 2014-2016.
The plan includes goals, objectives and funding allocations for older adult services provided through state and federal funding. Coverage area includes Allegan, Ionia, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Newaygo and Osceola counties.

- Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mecosta County Senior Center (12954 80th Avenue, Mecosta, MI 49332)
- Monday June 3, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan’s new office (3215 Eaglecrest Drive NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525)
The Area Plan will be considered by the AAAWM Advisory Council at their meeting following the Public Hearing. Recommendations made will be considered by the AAAWM Board of Directors at their meeting on June 24, 2013.
Comments Needed for Annual Plan
The Draft FY 2013 Area Implementation Plan (AIP) is ready for public comment. The Plan describes how federal Older Americans Act and state funds will be spent to support community-based services for older adults in Allegan, Ionia, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Newaygo and Osceola counties. Older persons, service providers, elected officials, advocates, and other interested parties are invited to review and comment on the proposed Plan at a public hearing which will be conducted on:

AAAWM will also accept written comments on the Draft FY 2013 AIP that are received by June 10, 2012. Written comments may be sent to AAAWM at the above address, submitted at the hearing, or emailed to AAAWM at AIPlan@aaawm.org.
The hearing will include a brief overview and highlights of the FY 13 AIP, with the majority of the time allotted for public review and comment. We encourage participants to come to the hearing with comments and questions.

Public Hearing Notice
