AAAWM Mourns Loss of Laurie Egeland, Longtime Employee

11/19/2015 2:00pm

On November 7, 2015, Laurie Day Egeland RN, AAAWM RN Manager, passed away. Laurie had been at the agency for over 18 years where she worked quietly behind the scenes to help thousands of older adults and individuals with disabilities live in their own homes. Supervising a team of 24 Registered Nurses, Laurie helped to build the Care Management program into what it is today. Over the last year, Laurie spearheaded the effort for CARF accreditation  (a prestigious international accreditation) and secured this distinction for the agency. Her efforts over the last 18 years have helped position the agency as a leader in home and community based programs in our community and in the state.

But more than that, Laurie was a cheerful presence who regularly had a smile on her face. She was passionate about people and stated that her favorite part of her job was the people she worked with. She had a kind heart and was a known dog lover around the office. As a supervisor, she always made her staff feel supported and cared for. As a co-worker, Laurie was known for both her dedication and her compassion for others. Laurie was married to her best friend Eric for 34 years and they enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

The family has encouraged people to consider making a donation in her memory to Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan or to the Humane Society of West Michigan. For more information on how to donate to AAAWM, click here.

I have been suffering with pain caused from the shingles for six years now. Sometimes the pain is so bad bad I can't breath. My shingles started in the center of my back and came around my shoulder, across my left breast. I was driving a truck when they hit me I got to the doctor too late to do any good. I keep hoping that the medical profession will make a breakthrough to get some help with the pain. I currently take 600 milligrams of Lyrics per day just bare the pain. i want to thank my wife friend Mrs Helen who was infected and was free from the infection with the help of a man called DR.PETER who was able to put an end to the Shingles infection with his herbal medicine, so it was easy for me to communicate with DR.PETER through his email (peterherpescurehome@gmail.com) and i explained to DR.PETER how i was infected and how i went to different hospital and how i took different drugs but was still in pain, he told me not to worry and ask for my address and deliver me a medicine and instruction on how to use it, i followed it well and drink twice a day till 14 days my pain went off and i was totally free. going to 9 months now that i drink from the medicine DR.PETER sent to me hospital doctor confirm it that i am totally free and i want to say again thank you DR.PETER for your kindness towards me and making me feel better again in case you need his help contact him direct via: (peterherpescurehome@gmail.com)
