Caregiver Services and Support in Grand Rapids, MI
Being a caregiver to an older adult comes with its own unique challenges, and can be both challenging and rewarding. Those providing care need to have access to support and resources not only for themselves but also for the care recipient. With Caregiver Resource Network, you have the help you need to provide the best care possible. Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan (AAAWM) is proud to offer services and support through the Caregiver Resource Network to help aid in the process.
What is Caregiver Resource Network?
The Caregiver Resource Network, a program of AAAWM, is a collaboration of more than 150 West Michigan organizations providing support for the needs and welfare of professional and family caregivers. In addition to providing resources online, the Caregiver Resource Network also operates Family Caregiver University, which offers monthly classes on caregiving topics such as fall prevention, Alzheimer's and dementia, navigating in-home care and facility placement, and much more. The website (www.caregiverresource.net) provides tools, tips, resources, Family Caregiver University class topics and registration information as well as, a monthly calendar with support groups and events in your area, and the Caregiver Corner Radio, with dozens of podcasts on a variety of topics addressing various aspects of being a family caregiver.
How We Can Help
AAAWM is here to help older adults, persons with disabilities, and their families and caregivers. We aim to promote dignity and independence for seniors and disabled persons, and our Caregiver Resource Network is about helping family caregivers find the information, support, and resources they need to best care for their loved one. Utilizing our services for care management, caregivers can work with the family to meet their unique needs and create an in-home care plan, helping seniors to age comfortably in their own home.
